Frio Regional Clinic

ARG Construction completed a new freestanding medical clinic in Dilley, Texas, for the Frio Hospital District. The building totals 5,680 square feet and houses seven exam rooms, a treatment room, a laboratory, an X-ray room, and administrative offices.

The project was built from the ground up and included the full range of trades: site work, concrete, masonry, structural metals, thermal and moisture protection, openings, interior finishes, and specialties. Building systems covered HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire suppression, communications, and electronic safety and security. Site work included a trash enclosure.

Medical construction carries requirements that other commercial work does not. The X-ray room required lead-lined radiation protection, and clinical spaces have to meet standards for infection control, medical gas and plumbing, and the coordination of imaging, lab, and treatment equipment. Those systems are designed into the building rather than added after, and getting them right depends on close coordination between the contractor, the architect, and the engineering team.

ARG built the clinic in coordination with O’Connell Robertson (architect), KFW Engineers & Surveying, and Intelligent Engineering Services LLP. The facility now provides Dilley residents with local access to primary care, imaging, and lab services through the Frio Hospital District.
